Smell Gas? In Mesa, Check Who Your Gas Company Is

The City of Mesa runs its own natural gas utility, serving more than 82,000 homes and businesses across 95 square miles of Mesa, plus its Magma area in parts of Queen Creek and San Tan Valley. Other homes are on Southwest Gas. Your gas bill says which.
- If you smell rotten eggs, hear hissing from a gas line, or suspect carbon monoxide: leave the house first.
- City of Mesa gas customers: call 9-1-1 and the city gas line, 480-644-4277. The city monitors its gas system around the clock.
- Southwest Gas customers: call (877) 860-6020, or 9-1-1.
Don't switch lights or appliances on or off near the smell. Once the gas utility has made it safe, we repair the gas line inside your property.

Mesa's Line: Meter In, It's Yours

The City of Mesa draws the line clearly for water and sewer:
- The city's: leaks at the water meter or in the main, no water, very low or high pressure, water coming up in the street, leaking hydrants, and sewer overflows from the city's mains. Call 480-644-2262.
- Yours: the pipe from the meter to the house, the irrigation system, all indoor plumbing, and the sewer connection and service line from the main to the home. That's where we come in.
Not sure which side it is? Call us and describe what you see; we will tell you whether to call the city first.
60 Minutes or $60 Off

For emergency calls inside Mesa city limits, if we're not at your door within 60 minutes, you get $60 off the service. It's subject to dispatch confirmation when you call, and it's one discount per visit.
Every visit starts with our $99 service call: we diagnose the problem and give you an upfront price before work begins. If you approve the work, the $99 goes toward it.
While you wait:
- Burst pipe or active leak: close your home's main shut-off valve, then open a faucet at the lowest point of the house.
- Leaking water heater: close the cold-water valve on top and turn off the gas control or the breaker.
- Sewage coming up a drain: stop all water use; every fixture drains through the same line.
