The Bill Jumped. Nothing Else Changed.

A slab leak is a pipe leaking under the concrete foundation, out of sight. In Mesa, the first sign is usually the water bill. The City of Mesa lays out a check you can do yourself before calling anyone:
- 1. Compare usage with previous months. A sudden jump can mean a leak.
- 2. Turn off all water: faucets, toilets, irrigation, washer and dishwasher.
- 3. Watch the meter. If it keeps registering with everything off, water is moving somewhere.
- 4. Rule out the usual suspects: toilets, irrigation, water softeners, hose bibs and pool autofill.
- 5. Decide whose it is (next section).
If the meter still moves after step 4, and nothing outside is wet, the leak is likely under the slab or inside a wall.

City Leak or Your Leak?

Per the City of Mesa, call the city at 480-644-2221 if water is leaking from the meter box or surfacing in the street. Everything past the meter is the owner's: the pipe from the meter to the house, the irrigation system, and the plumbing inside, including any line running under the slab.
Other signs point to a slab leak: a warm spot on a tile floor (a hot water line), the sound of running water with everything off, damp carpet or swollen baseboards, or a water heater that runs more than it should.
One Mesa quirk: the city's water report notes that groundwater in parts of east Mesa is naturally warm, and summer heat warms the lines further. A warm cold tap in July is normal; a warm patch of floor is not.
Repair Without Tearing Up the House

We locate the leak before anything is opened, then you choose the fix:
- Spot repair: open the slab at the leak and fix that section. Best for a single, isolated leak.
- Reroute: abandon the leaking line and run a new one through the walls or attic, leaving the slab alone.
- Repipe: when lines have leaked more than once, replacing them may cost less than chasing the next leak. See whole-home repipe.
Our $99 service call covers the visit and an upfront price before work begins, and it goes toward the repair if you go ahead. More on slab leak repair.
